Dubai Visa for GCC Residents: Requirements & How to Apply

If you live in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain or Oman and hold a non-GCC passport, you may need an entry visa for the UAE before travelling. This guide explains the Dubai visa for GCC residents, required documents, entry validity, stay duration and how to submit an application with UTM Travel & Visa. Eligibility depends on your nationality, GCC residence status, profession and the applicable immigration rules.

Important distinction: Citizens of GCC countries generally do not need a visa to enter the UAE. Non-GCC nationals who reside in a GCC country may need an eVisa or another appropriate entry permit.

Documents required

  • Passport: A valid passport with at least six months' remaining validity on arrival.
  • Personal photograph: A recent colour passport-style photo, preferably on a white background.
  • GCC residence permit: A copy of your valid residence permit, or an electronic record showing the profession and permit validity.
  • Other supporting documents: Additional documents may be requested depending on the visa category and issuing authority.

GCC residency validity: The UAE Government's published eVisa guidance specifies at least one year of remaining GCC residence validity from the date of arrival. GDRFA Dubai's service page requires a valid GCC residence permit but does not state the same numerical minimum. Confirm the requirements for your application with the relevant authority before submitting.

Entry validity and length of stay

  • Entry validity: The UAE Government's GCC-resident eVisa guidance states that the entry permit is valid for 30 days from issue. Enter before the expiry date printed on your approved permit.
  • Permitted stay: The same guidance allows a 30-day stay from entry for the GCC-resident category.
  • Extensions: One 30-day extension may be available where authorized; it is not automatic. Fees and conditions may apply.
  • Other visa types: Other UAE visit or tourist visa categories may offer different permitted stays and single- or multiple-entry options. These should not be confused with the GCC-resident entry permit.

Accompanying persons: GCC residents vs GCC citizens

Family members and other accompanying persons should be assessed according to the correct visa category. The separate 60-day companion category described by UAE immigration authorities is for eligible companions of GCC citizens (not automatically for companions of all GCC residents). Conditions may include accompanying the GCC-national host. Contact UTM if you need help identifying the appropriate category.

Frequently asked questions

Do GCC residents need a visa for Dubai?
Many non-GCC nationals residing in Gulf countries need an appropriate entry permit before arrival. Check your nationality and residency category before applying.

Is the visa's entry validity the same as the stay duration?
No. Entry validity determines when you must enter the UAE; permitted stay determines how long you may remain after entry. Always follow the dates on your approved visa.

Can GCC residents extend their UAE visa?
A 30-day extension may be possible for eligible GCC-resident entry permits, subject to official approval and applicable fees.

Official guidance: UAE Government — eVisa for GCC residents · GDRFA Dubai — GCC resident entry visa · ICP — Companions of GCC citizens.
